Childhood Secrecy Trauma: A 90-Minute Online Class

Childhood Secrecy Trauma

Understanding the Developmental Costs of Secret-Keeping
and What Recovery Looks Like

If you've ever felt the painful isolation of being asked to keep a secret as a child: this class is for you.

So many of us experienced something as a child that we were told never to speak about—whether explicitly or through unspoken pressure. But secret-keeping doesn't just happen once. Because you continue to keep the secret every day. Day after day. From everyone around you: friends, other family members, teachers, intimate partners. Often, for years, or even decades. You know the cost: the isolation. The constant vigilance. The armor you put on and add layers to, day after day, to protect everyone else -- while you are inside it, with the secret - alone, invisible, separated and seemingly abandoned by everyone you love.

Maybe you developed these protective patterns then... but you still wear their armor now. Do these sound familiar?

  • Fear of speaking your truth, especially to people you care about
  • Hypervigilance about how others relate to you
  • Feeling like no one truly knows you - even those closest to you
  • Chronic anxiety
  • Fawning: appeasing others at the expense of your own experience
  • Always sensing danger even when you're safe
  • Relational attraction to secrecy: Repeatedly ending up in relationships and situations that include hiding, deceit, denial, and secrets

These aren't character flaws. They're brilliant, intelligent adaptations your nervous system made to survive an impossible situation. The good news: these patterns that have been wired into your body and behavior, can be rewired and released!

What You'll Learn in this class:

The Biology of Secret-Keeping

Understand what actually happened in your brain and body as a child forced to keep secrets:

  • The cognitive load of constantly monitoring who knows what
  • How chronic stress becomes your baseline state
  • Why your neuroception (automatic safety-sensing) became distorted
  • The gradual embodiment of unprocessed emotions and experiences
  • How your nervous system formed around secret-keeping, and how to unwind into safety, belonging, and relaxed connection

When Secrets Are Sexual

If the secret you kept had a sexual component, learn how that amplifies the effects of secret-keeping:

  • How secrecy becomes woven into sexuality and arousal
  • How to separate your own authentic turn-on from the confusion of what others wanted / want from you
  • Why you may find deceptive sexuality attractive even when you know it feels harmful to you
  • Why you need both sexual recovery AND secrecy recovery

What Recovery Actually Looks Like

Learn basic practices for healing:

  • Building capacity for safety in your body
  • Practices that help you learn to consistently tell the truth -- to yourself and others
  • Recovering your voice: physically, emotionally, and spiritually
  • Rewiring your nervous system from hypervigilance to calm aliveness
  • Asking for help from trustworthy guides
"You are not damaged, broken, or inherently untrustworthy. What happened to you was real. The impact on your developing nervous system was measurable. The patterns you formed were necessary for survival. And you are whole."

Ready to Begin Recovery?

Full, lasting recovery is possible. No matter how long ago it all happened or what has been happening ever since.

This work takes time. Rewiring trauma patterns needs to happen on all levels: mind (thought patterns), body, physical holding, nervous system recalibration, and existentional (meaning-making and belief systems) . It will trigger resistance. But the cost of not recovering is your peace, your health, your integrity, and your capacity for true intimacy with yourself and others.

About Your Instructor

For the last ten years, my practice has centered on consent, sexual agency, whole body wellness, and mapping and rewiring sexual trauma—especially childhood sexual abuse and the accompanying secrecy trauma.

I've worked with hundreds of clients to recover their own sense of choice, voice, authentic pleasure, innocence, self-trust, and empowered truth-telling after sexual and childhood trauma.

My certifications and experience include Sexological Bodywork, Sex and Intimacy Coaching, STREAM Somatic Trauma and Scar Resolution, Pelvic Care Specialist, Somatic Sexology, and mindfulness practices.

But especially, I know this work because I've lived it.

Pause and Feel

Does this resonate in your body? Does the "secrecy spacesuit" feel familiar? Are you ready to stop participating in your own isolation?
