Kink is PLAY. It’s where we can bring our wild side – our primal, uncivilized, uncensored desires. Devotional Kink includes all that wildness – and also invites our longing for the Sacred: to meet the God/Goddess within us. When we create sacred, consensual spaces for this level of engagement, there’s room for ALL of us — “dark” and “light”, “good” and “bad,” and every way we want to play – sensual, primal, intensely threatening, soul-level soothing. Devotional Kink allows us to weave myth and fairy tale, archetype and Shadow, in a direct, embodied, physical way where we step out of our ordinary lives, out of ordinary time and space, and play in the field of the gods.
Not only does Devotional Kink have a place in loving, conscious, healthy relationships, but that it enhances vulnerable, authentic connection in extraordinary ways.
When done intentionally and consensually, Devotional Kink can lead to delicious altered states, soul healing, and transformative, and intimate connection beyond your wildest fantasies.
The essence of Devotional Kink is this: we make an explicit agreement to deliberately wicked together. To break the rules, together. Because we’ve agreed on what, and how, and most importantly – why – and invited each other into all of that with an enthusiastic YES – OMG it’s SO PLAYFUL!
You become partners in crime; you become one being surfing waves of sensation and connection through the conduit of two (or more) bodies. You feel sacred, loved, seen, innocent, powerful, and beautiful. You feel fully accepted and free.
Shibari (Japanese rope bondage) is one of my favorite areas of play, and it is full of paradox. You may be bound and restrained, and yet never felt so liberated. You may want to deliver intense sensation – fear, or “pain” – to a play partner, and by the gorgeous alchemy in their body, your physical connection, and your shared awareness of your experience, you can turn that into ecstatic altered states and POWER. It feels like love – because it is love, delivered in just the way you both want it most.
However you choose to play, the essence is devotion: placing your full loving attention on another. Especially on the parts of them that they would prefer to hide, or avoid; the parts you both bring out in order to elevate and transmute them into erotic delight, epic pleasure, and Love.
It’s delicious to play with all the toys — but you don’t need any special equipment for Devotional Kink. There are foundational tools and practices to set the container, create a dedicated, sacred space, and drop into safety and trust together.
